Amazon Data Reveals What’s Going to the Dogs (and Cats)

U.S. pet owner spending data on Amazon reveals some of the contours of the sharp feline vs. canine divide. For example, while just under one in five (19.7%) of dog owners buy pet deodorizers, they are purchased by more than three-quarters (77.5%) of cat owners. Are cat owners more fastidious about smells, or do dogs simply smell better than cats? The latter seems unlikely given that “wet dog” is a notoriously unpleasant odor.

Additionally, cat owners are heavily invested in keeping their cats happy (or stoned), spending an estimated $528,000 per month on catnip. Learn more about pet purchase trends in this infographic from Netrush.
