For the 16th consecutive year, the design:retail Winning Windows awards honor the top three Manhattan retail stores for their excellence in holiday window design. design:retail Winning Windows judges walked New York City, touring the storefronts and delighting in the creative, festive and impeccably executed designs that window teams across the city have spent the past year planning. Windows featured a gingerbread kingdom with a handmade Victorian gingerbread house being held aloft by dozens of dancing gingerbread men; the holiday countdown with an ornate mansion with 24 windows counting down the days to Christmas; a larger-than-life cuckoo clock; and a look inside a sweets shop, inspired by a traditional Parisian bakery and filled with decadent holiday treats. More than 7 million hand-placed Swarovski crystals, gems and jewels adorn backdrops, set pieces and objects for a dazzling effect.
