To celebrate the highly anticipated release of the film Wicked (arriving in theaters Nov. 22), Lush Cosmetics will release its largest collaboration to date, with 14 items ranging from bath fizzes to custom scents. And to bring the collection to life, the partners have opened a pop-up at the St. Pancras International train station in London.
The centerpiece of the pop-up is a Christmas tree inspired by the film and created in partnership with Universal Pictures UK and Insogni Studio. An ode to the famed Emerald City, the tree stands 11 meters (approximately 36 feet) high and took 20 expert craftspeople more than 4,000 hours to construct. The structure features more than 100 intricately illuminated towers that house tiny windows with characters and other features from the film, complemented by scents from the Lush collection floating through the air.
At the base of the tree are immersive booths offering visitors photo opportunities and musical experiences from the film, and hidden in the center of the tree lies a diorama of the Land of Oz that includes more than 1,000 miniature flowers, an illuminated yellow brick road and iconic landmarks from the film, including Shiz University, The Emerald City, the castle Kiamo Ko and The Governor’s Mansion.
Visitors will of course be able to shop the Lush collection as well, including a product exclusive only available at the pop-up — the Wicked St. Pancras Christmas Tree soap.
“We are delighted to partner with St. Pancras International to bring the world of Wicked to life through this enchanting Christmas tree,” said Erika Lewington, Marketing Director at Universal Pictures International, UK and Eire in a statement. “The central London station’s spectacular architecture provided the perfect Ozmopolitan backdrop for this cinematic moment. We hope the wickedly dazzling experience enriches peoples’ journeys and brings a touch of magic to one of London’s most iconic destinations.”
