Arc’teryx

Arc’teryx Equipment has opened its largest brand flagship at 580 Broadway in New York City. The two-story, 14,164-square-foot space was designed to spotlight circularity as the future of retail while also showcasing the company’s robust assortment of technical high-performance outerwear and equipment.

The store design is modern and minimalist, using exposed ornate pillars, technical lighting and a neutral color palette. This pared-back style allows the brand to put its ReBIRD circularity platform front and center, including a dedicated Service Center that helps customers extend the life of their gear. Modeled after the ARC’One manufacturing facility near Vancouver, this area of the store features repair services, product education and technical washing. Four full-time ReBIRD Repair Operators are on site at all times.

Arc’teryx is using the store as a physical manifestation of its ReGEAR shopping experience. Guests can shop a curated selection of pre-owned items that have been refurbished by brand technicians and tested to ensure they maintain high performance standards. Customers can browse rare vintage designs and one-of-a-kind pieces in the same space, which also includes fitting rooms, assessment counters and workbenches set against a backdrop of light tones and minimalist treatments.

“The Broadway store marks a significant milestone in our retail evolution,” said Delaney Schweitzer, Chief Commercial Officer for Arc’teryx in a statement. “We are proud to offer a space where our community can explore both new and pre-loved products under one roof and access unparalleled product care and repair services to keep their gear performing at its best for years to come.”

The circularity mission and vision are even present in A-Frame Café, Arc’teryx’s first official branded cafe in the U.S. Customers can enjoy specialty coffees, teas and outdoor-inspired snacks (think trail mix and energy bars) while relaxing on chairs made of recycled Beta jackets.

A Space for Community

Schweitzer noted that the flagship is a much-awaited follow up to Arc’teryx’s successful SoHo location, and that it will be a “hub for our community — a place for guests to engage with our pinnacle retail offering, build connections over coffee and share their love of the mountains.”

To bring this mission to life, Arc’teryx will host various community events on the ReBIRD floor, including workshops with local artists and upcycled art installations. The space will run special promotions and trade-in programs to encourage customers to be more intentional with their purchase decisions.

Additionally, a dedicated theater zone will host storytelling sessions, brand films and community events, helping deepen the connection between the brand and its shopper community.
