Synchrony Financial has created a fully-integrated plug-in credit feature (SyPi) for the mobile apps of its retail partners.
The SyPi technology is a patent-pending plug-in designed to integrate credit, loyalty, coupon codes and payment functions seamlessly into retailer-branded apps, to further enhance the mobile shopping experience for cardholders.
The plug-in is customizable based on the retail partner’s needs. For example, while some retailers want to prioritize the omnichannel experience, others may want to use the app to drive more credit card adoption, while some simply want another channel to track purchase behavior.
SyPi also allows merchants to incorporate their private-label reward programs as part of the mobile transaction by integrating with Synchrony’s offers engine.
Retailers such as JCPenney, Lowe’s and Old Navy have launched the plug-in, which includes push notifications that remind consumers about payments and payment trackers to show overall account balance and purchase activity.
Synchrony developed the plug-in in partnership with GPShopper, which it acquired in March 2017.
