EPiServer Announces Behavioral Merchandising Solution

Personalization is an essential part of the online shopping experience. But building and maintaining multiple rules and settings that generate specialized product recommendations is challenging for retailers, especially those with large or complex product catalogues.

EPiServer, a provider of multichannel digital marketing and e-Commerce software, announced a behavioral merchandising solution designed to customize search content automatically. The new add-on to the EPiServer Commerce platform generates automatic product navigation, personalized recommendations and targeted offers to help increase customer satisfaction, conversion rates and order values. The new capability, available through a partnership with Apptus Technologies, uses Apptus eSales self-learning software to integrate instant personalization, intelligent search and content targeting, based on an array of data including past purchases, trending top sellers, shopping basket and recent activity.

EPiServer also announced EPiServer 7 CMS, a content management and improvement system designed to allow marketers to create content that works seamlessly across channels. An intuitive interface automatically reveals only relevant information to content creators, helping to ensure that customer experiences are consistent across mobile, tablet and desktop screens, and that retail sites are optimized for conversions and results.

Providing seamless and consistent cross-channel content and engagement is an ongoing struggle for many retailers. According to a August 2012 report from Forrester Research, titled: Unify The Digital Experience Across Touchpoints, pulling content from multiple sources and contextually transforming it to support unified digital experiences will be one of the biggest challenges in [the digital] space in the next several years.

“Our customers tell us that it is difficult and time consuming to create great sites that are relevant to the customer and ensure maximum impact across mobile, tablet and desktop as well as the social channel,” said Bob Egner, VP of Product Development and Global Marketing at EPiServer, in a company press release. “By giving marketers and content creators the option to update all screens at once and reuse content across the web and social channels, we’ve streamlined the process, making it even easier for companies to create consistent, responsive sites that are customized and optimized based on the customer context.”
