Walmart Promotes Three Execs To Improve Customer-Facing Technology

1walmartms

As Walmart continues to integrate its newly acquired Jet.com business, three technology executives have been promoted to help unify in-store and online technologies, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Fiona Tan — formerly VP of Engineering of the company’s international group — was promoted to SVP of U.S. Customer Technology, while Jae Evans has been elevated to the role of VP of Global Technical Engineering and Operations. Jaya Kolkatkar, Co-Founder of Inkiru, a predictive analytics firm that Walmart acquired in 2013, will be the new SVP of Walmart’s global data and analytics platform.

The promotions are “intended to align technology work to the ways consumers increasingly shop, using mobile apps to research items and navigate physical stores and buying online to pick up in stores,” said Tan, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Walmart’s efforts to compete with Amazon by enhancing its e-Commerce offerings seem to be paying off. The Jet.com acquisition has surely helped. In February 2017, the company announced a 29% YOY increase in online sales in Q4.
