Former Hudson’s Bay CEO Bonnie Brooks Announces Retirement

Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) Vice Chair Bonnie Brooks has announced that she will be retiring on Dec. 31, 2016 after a 40-year career in the fashion retail and marketing industry. The company has yet to announce her successor.

Brooks spent eight years at Hudson’s Bay and was the first female CEO and President of the company, from 2008 to 2012. Her career also included 12 years leading Holt Renfrew’s merchandising and marketing functions, followed by 11 years in Hong Kong, where she helped reinvent Lane Crawford department stores in Asia.

“Bonnie has been a very strong leader who, from day one, was integral to the reinvention of Hudson’s Bay,” said Richard Baker, Governor and Executive Chairman of Hudson’s Bay Company in a statement. “We are extremely grateful for her contributions to the company and wish her well in her retirement.”

“It has been a privilege to work with the team at Hudson’s Bay Company, a true Company of Adventurers,” said Brooks. “We have seen tremendous change since I joined the Company, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together. I look forward to watching the continued success of HBC.”
