CVS Health Names New Retail Division President

CVS Health named Kevin Hourican President of CVS Pharmacy, the company’s retail business. He was previously Executive Vice President of Retail Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy.

Since joining CVS in 2012, Hourican has partnered on programs including the ScriptPath prescription management system, the Rx Savings Finder, medication adherence programs and home delivery. Prior to joining the company, he held executive positions at Macy’s and Sears.

Hourican is taking on this new role as competition intensifies in the pharmacy services industry. Walmart is in preliminary talks to purchase health insurance company Humana, in a deal that could mirror the way Aetna members were pushed toward CVS pharmacies after their own merger. Amazon is showing interest in the pharmacy industry as well, though it plans to sell medical devices and supplies rather than drugs.
