WalmartLabs, the technology division responsible for Walmart’s global e-Commerce initiatives, has acquired consumer engagement software platform PunchTab for an undisclosed sum. WalmartLabs exiting CRM tools are designed to improve communication with customers across e-mail, on web sites, on mobile phones and in physical stores. The company plans to enhance these features with the technology acquired in the deal.
Jeremy King, Head of WalmartLabs, and Jamie Iannone, President and CEO of Samsclub.com, made the announcement in a company blog post. PunchTab is the 15th acquisition WalmartLabs has made since its foundation in 2011.
As part of the acquisition, WalmartLabs also will leverage the PunchTab platform to enhance its tailored offerings to Sam’s Club members across the company’s stores, mobile app and e-Commerce site. WalmartLabs plans to apply this blueprint to other businesses, including Walmart.com.
