Chairish, an online marketplace for vintage furniture, has acquired Dering Hall, a discovery platform for contemporary furniture brands and interior designers. The brand will complement the existing portfolio of Chairish and DECASO, giving the combined retailer:
- A selection of 450,000 vintage, antique, contemporary and made-to-order products;
- A monthly audience of more than 2.5 million users; and
- A community of more than 20,000 verified design professionals.
The deal will expand Chairish’s reach in the $260 billion U.S. home furnishings category, an industry that has been slow to move online in part due to shipping challenges. Chairish introduced Drop Off & Go, a packing and shipping service designed to cut the time and cost of shipping for sellers, in August 2018 to help alleviate these concerns.
“Accelerating digital adoption is creating both new opportunities and challenges for the design industry,” said Gregg Brockway, CEO and Co-Founder of Chairish in a statement. “Our companies’ shared commitment to making great design accessible online in a way that fosters the health and growth of the design community made this a natural joining of forces. We’re excited to bring mutually beneficial digital solutions for creativity, discovery and efficiency to life.”

Dering Hall will continue to operate as a standalone site but will be linked with the rest of the Chairish brand. Peter Sallick, co-founder of Dering Hall, will join the executive team at Chairish Inc. as a strategic advisor.
