Black Friday Deals Will Draw 94% Of Consumers To Online Sites

As many as 94% of consumers plan to go online to find Black Friday deals, according to a study conducted by Brad’s Deals, a savings site with more than 11 million daily email subscribers. Of the online Black Friday shoppers, 86% expect to visit at least three stores and 28% plan to visit more than 6 stores.

The survey queried more than 8,000 consumers about the upcoming holiday shopping season. The subsequent report, titled: Brad’s Deals 2013 Holiday Shopping Study & Predictions, also revealed that consumers in the 45+ age group shop most for online Black Friday deals: 63% in this age bracket said they shop either mostly online or entirely online for Black Friday deals, compared to only 52% in the 18- to 45-year-old group.

In addition to these and other findings, the report includes forecasts made by Brad Wilson, founder of the Brad’s Deals site. Among them:

  • Cyber Monday 2013 will be the biggest online shopping day ever, reaching $2 billion in online spending;
  • The upcoming holiday shopping season (Nov. 1 to Dec. 31) will surpass $50 billion in total online sales;
  • Online spending on Thanksgiving Day will increase by 40% as retailers shift more online deals to “Black Thursday” ;
  • As much as 60% of online shopping traffic will come from mobile devices on Thanksgiving Day 2013; and
  • Stores with a combination of in-store and online promotions will be the most successful.
