It was an eventful week in the retail world, with many retailers entering new business ventures and adding new team members. Below is a breakdown of some of the top stories, but be sure to check out the Retail TouchPoints web site and Twitter account for the latest breaking news!
A&F stages a massive turnaround: Following a tumultuous few years Abercrombie & Fitch has on boarded a completely new executive team. Stemming from a variety of notable brands, including Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Club Monaco and Carter’s, the new team will focus on specific brands, rather than taking a hierarchical approach to the entire company. It is still early days, seeing as A&F just announced the new team, but it will be interesting to see how these executives bring their fashion and business savvy to the table and (hopefully) save the brand.

It may be the end for American Apparel after all: Despite its best efforts to bunco back, American Apparel has revealed that it may not be able to stay in business. Representatives said that its cash and business have deteriorated so badly it cannot recover.

QVC buys Zulily: At first blush, this deal had us scratching our heads. But the more we thought about it, the more it makes sense! QVC now has access to a tech-savvy group of Millennial moms. Zulily now has knowledge, thought leadership and a strong brand foundation to build its company on.

ModCloth opens up a new Fit Shop: The women’s fashion eTailer is taking cues from other pureplays by opening up a Fit Shop in San Francisco. Think of how Bonobos piqued consumer interest by focusing more on the experience than selling products with its Guide Shops. Similarly, ModCloth is focused on bringing its thriving digital community together to drive true brand interaction and product education.

We look forward to sharing more of the latest headlines next week! Have a great weekend!
