Google Shopping to disclose search data to attract retailers: Google has launched a beta Shopping Insights tool, enabling users to search for products by keyword. Featured Insights available to retailers include shopping demand for Minions vs. Star Wars Halloween costumes and Xbox One vs. PS4.

Retailers will be able to use the tool to identify shopping trends and consumer habits across devices, regions and times, and then leverage the data to gauge efficiency of potential marketing and advertising campaigns.

MasterCard experiments with Identity Check app: Selfie-takers rejoice: MasterCard is testing out a new technology that enables online shoppers to authorize a transaction via a snapshot of their face, instead of a password. More than 200 employees of First Tech Federal Credit Union are taking part in the two-month pilot program, verifying their identity with either a fingerprint scan or a smartphone photo.

To use this option, consumers would first have to download the MasterCard Identity Check App, then purchase a product from a merchant requiring identity verification. When the app opens, simply hold the phone up to your face and blink.
