No brand likes to lose an email subscriber or social media followers. To mitigate these losses, follow tips based on data from a survey of 900+ respondents conducted by BuzzStream and Fractl:
- Less Is More: The top reason people unsubscribe from emails, chosen by 33% of respondents, is that they are sent too frequently. The number two reason, at 28%, is related: people unsubscribe because their inbox is too crowded.
- Vary The Diet: Nearly one in four (24%) respondents unsubscribe because the email content they receive is repetitive and boring. On social media, followers identify new content in posts as the activity that matters most to them.
- Prioritize Visuals Over Text: The largest segment of respondents, 22%, identified images as their most preferred content type from brands. Tied for second place, at 15%: videos and customer reviews.
