A 2011 Bit9 survey of 722 retail businesses revealed that the top two IT/security concerns were maintaining Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance (47%) and preventing targeted attacks (42%).
Retailers’ concerns over cyber security are warranted: endpoints such as POS systems are the gateways through which credit card data and other personally identifiable information is transferred into the enterprise.
