Online Search Functionality Gets a Low Grade from 42% of Shoppers

More than four in 10 online shoppers give search and discovery experiences a grade of “C” or below, and even more consumers — 68% — think the search functions on retail websites need an upgrade, according to Constructor’s 2nd annual State of Ecommerce Survey 2024.

Consumers are willing to reward retailers that provide a top-notch search experience, with 62% saying they would shop more at that retailer; 41% saying they would leave a positive review; and 24% saying they would pay 5% to 10% more for the items they’re seeking.
