Excess Chargebacks Put 25% Of Retailers At High Risk For Fraud

One in four merchants have chargeback rates of greater than 1%, which puts them in the “high-risk” category as defined by card-based payment companies. That’s despite the fact that 80% of merchants dispute at least some illegitimate chargebacks, according to the State Of Chargebacks Survey 2018 report. Unfortunately for the retailers (or fortunately for the fraudsters), only 18% of surveyed merchants reported an average win rate above 60% when they dispute friendly fraud.
