Zebra Launches Autonomous Solution For Detecting Out-Of-Stocks And Pricing Errors

Zebra Technologies Corporation has introduced SmartSight, an intelligent automation solution designed to improve front-of-store operations at mass merchants, grocers, supermarkets and hypermarkets. The tool leverages the computer vision, machine learning, workflow automation and robotic capabilities of Zebra’s EMA50 enterprise mobile automation system to identify out-of-stock conditions, pricing inconsistencies and planogram issues on the shelf.

Nearly half (43%) of retail associates cited customer complaints about out-of-stocks as their biggest frustration in Zebra’s Global Shopper Study. Additionally, 39% of shoppers have left a store due to this problem, and 25% didn’t complete a purchase because the in-store price didn’t match the online price.

SmartSight is designed to autonomously scan shelves and generate tasks for store associates to restock shelves and update prices in an efficient manner, reducing the risk of out-of-stocks. This also allows retailers to reassign an average of 65 labor hours per store per week to assignments that are focused on engaging shoppers rather than managing shelves.

The solution is comprised of the EMA50 mobile automation system, retail automation software platform and both professional and managed services. SmartSight can be integrated into existing retail systems, including buy online/pickup in-store (BOPIS) and buy online/deliver from store workflows.
