With mobile technology in hand, employees can complete and manage tasks in a more streamlined fashion. However, most consumer-grade mobile devices do not have the optimal hardware design for more rugged environments.
Janam Technologies has released the XM5 family of rugged mobile computers, designed to specifically meet the needs of retailers. The devices are optimized for barcode scanning and wireless communication, and help eliminate the stress and cost associated with forced application migration and hardware upgrades.
The XM5 family is designed to maximize mobility investments of enterprise and government organizations, and supports Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5 and Android operating systems on the same hardware, enabling customers to choose an operating system and application migration schedule that best meets their mobility requirements.

Consumers can choose between a 1D/2D imager or a 1D laser scanner for barcode detection. Both models include RFID and NFC reading capabilities to boost efficiency and accuracy in a variety of applications including inventory management, asset tracking, personal identification and mPOS.
The technology can withstand five-foot drops onto concrete floors, is UL-certified for hazardous environments, and is sealed to IP65 standards.
