Packaging materials and solutions provider Avery Dennison has released the Janela Smart Products Platform, a digital enablement window designed to connect footwear and apparel products to an IoT “software brain” that creates product experiences when users connect using a smartphone.
Over the course of three years, Avery Dennison will digitize a minimum of 10 billion apparel and footwear products from fashion, performance and footwear brands, giving them unique, item-level digital identities before shipping globally.
With the platform, brands will be able to leverage real-time data analytics, to tackle problems such as product authentication for better brand protection and increased efficiency in supply chains.

Once connected to the web, products can interact with smartphones to trigger applications and services that connect more intelligently with consumers. With Janela, each smart product, digitized at the point of manufacturing, enables consumers to:
-
Discover how and where a garment is made;
-
Unlock styling videos and other content tailored to their interests; and
-
Access exclusive promotions that may influence consumer brand loyalty.
Avery Dennison partnered with IoT software provider EVRYTHING to manufacture the solution.
