Spencer Technologies will expand its customer base and broaden its capabilities as a provider of end-to-end managed retail technology solutions with its acquisition of Certified Retail Solutions, which provides support for retail technology rollouts and store systems maintenance throughout North America.
Spencer will integrate Certified Retail Solutions’ capabilities with its existing offerings to strengthen the company’s full lifecycle services of staging, configuring, deploying and providing on-site repair services for retail technology. The 66 Certified employees will join Spencer Technologies.
With more than 450 employees and 200 technicians working throughout North America and Europe, Spencer Technologies provides IT networking and POS configuration solutions to retailers and restaurants.

The acquisition is just one element of Spencer’s strategy of extending its global reach. In 2018, the Northborough, Mass.-based company will add three new facilities and offices in Dover, N.H., where Certified Retail Solutions was headquartered, as well as in Juarez and Mexico City, Mexico. Spencer will be providing services to eight new countries this year, and also will add three new distribution and staging centers and a new European Pin-Pad key injection facility.
“Off-line brick-and-mortar retail is under siege from e-Commerce, creating an opportunity for the most innovative companies to set themselves apart in an ever-changing climate,” said David Strickler, President and CEO of Spencer Technologies in a statement. “If retailers can rely on a single vendor to service all their in-store technology needs, we can serve as a trusted partner and extension of their team, allowing them to devote more resources to navigating their business through this challenging period.”
