The Importance Of Shopping Small [Infographic]

Small businesses give back to the community by creating new jobs and offering consumers the ability to contribute to the cause of supporting the local economy. In fact, independent retailers located in communities with a “buy local” initiative reported revenue growth of 5.6% on average in 2010, compared to 2.1% for those without the initiative.

In addition, a majority (90%) of consumers believe small businesses contribute positively to their local communities, while 93% believe it’s important to support the local small businesses that they value in their communities.

This infographic, courtesy of American Express OPEN, highlights the impact of small businesses, how they enrich communities and the importance of Small Business Saturday.
