The events of 2020 renewed a driving force for retail. Never an industry to shy away from evolution and change, the pandemic removed the luxury of having time to drive innovation efforts. Instead, it thrust retailers into the unknown and forced them — in many cases — to adapt and build the plane mid-air. But retail survived and thrived in many instances, so if history proves to indeed repeat itself, it will come back stronger than before, but not without effort.
Omnichannel success has never been as pivotal for retail as it is now. To achieve it though, those behind retail transformation must rethink how to integrate hyperconnected ecosystems of partners, customers, employees and “connected things” that all make those omnichannel efforts exist. To meet those challenges head on, retailers must reimagine internal infrastructures that connect the dots, deliver real-time data for real-time decisions, automate and scale with speed, all while decreasing operational costs and increasing customer satisfaction and revenue.
