The idiom “garbage in, garbage out” is taking on new significance in our increasingly data-driven world. As retailers of all shapes and sizes become more and more reliant on data in all aspects of their business, the cost of bad — or “dirty” —  data is rising.

Bad data is estimated to cost the U.S. over $3 trillion annually, not to mention other less measurable costs resulting from the operational inefficiencies or faulty decision-making that bad data can create.
