34% of Shoppers Say Their Favorite Retail Website Lacks the Personal Touch

More than one in three U.S. shoppers say they’re treated like a stranger by their favorite retail website, and even more (60%) of consumers think retailers’ online search function needs upgrading. The benefits of a search function that makes finding the right product easier are significant: 74% of shoppers are more likely to buy the item from that retailer.

Additionally, retailers shouldn’t be afraid to deploy ChatGPT as part of their search functionality: 42% of consumers would be “very” or “somewhat” comfortable with using the generative AI tool to find the right products for them on a retail website.
