Savor Bridges The Payment Gap

New technology, paired with heightened customer demands, has encouraged a shift in payment.

Not only are shoppers demanding a more personalized browsing and buying experience, they also expect that they can make their transactions quickly and seamlessly, regardless of the device or touch point they are using.

That is why Rich DeNardis founded Savor. Now the acting CEO, DeNardis created Savor to, quite simply, make people’s lives easier. Savor is available as an iPad app, and offers consumers personalized offers based on their social profiles and general interests. Consumers can bookmark offers and get reminders when they’re about to expire. Social integration also enables users to easily share their favorite deals with their connections.

Using Big Data intelligence, Savor sorts through “hundreds, or even thousands of coupons to help customers find the most relevant ones,” DeNardis said in an interview with Retail TouchPoints. The finding, sharing and redeeming process is “easier, so it not only makes consumers’ lives easier, but also helps drive incremental traffic for the retailer.”

Savor is in the middle of the payment shift happening in the retail space. Although there are new developments in mobile wallets and payment applications, many solutions don’t create that seamless experience customers crave, DeNardis explained. “Typically, a wallet is analogous with the container of that information.”

DeNardis added: “You’re seeing different ways to pay for things, plus all those loyalty programs. We’re focused on trying to make the transition from an old way to pay for things, with a store coupon, gift card and credit/debit cards, and overall, make that process more seamless.”

Launched right before Black Friday 2013, Savor initially launched in beta to collect feedback from a group of early users. After making a few changes, the company launched a new and improved experience for mass-market consumption.

The iPad app is designed to tie in seamlessly with web experiences, something many other coupon sites and aggregators struggle to do when they release mobile apps. When users tap into Savor, they have the ability to sift through a variety of different catalog categories based on the type of product they’re looking for. Once you select a category, a variety of relevant retailer deals are aggregated into a central location. For example, if you click on the “home” catalog, you will see discounts for Mikasa, Art.com and AllPosters.com.

As you spend more time on the app, algorithms “will go in and prioritize and bring deals to the front we think users will like,” DeNardis explained.

When users find a deal they want to use, they simply click on the offer and follow the directions! It’s as easy as copying a code and clicking a button to go to the retailer’s e-Commerce site.

What I enjoy most about Savor is that it’s so streamlined and easy to use. Sometimes, I find that the coupon sites and aggregators make you jump through hoops to get a deal…Savor puts everything front and center so you can start saving!

You can even sign up for a daily or weekly email program (depending on your needs) to get updates on your preferred deals and categories.

Needless to say, if you like saving, give Savor a shot.
