Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo will add 11 stores to its U.S. retail footprint next spring and summer, according to Fast Company. The new locations will include four NYC sites and stores in Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Washington, D.C. and Maryland’s Annapolis Mall. These additional stores will bring Uniqlo’s U.S. store count to nearly 90 locations; the retailer’s parent company Fast Retailing operates more than 3,600 stores worldwide, including nearly 2,500 under the Uniqlo banner.

“Our strategy is about thoughtful growth — opening the right stores in the right places — while ensuring every location reflects our customer’s voices and delivers a meaningful, high-quality experience,” said Fuminori Adachi, CEO of the brand’s U.S. division, in a statement provided to Fast Company.

In April 2024 Uniqlo announced its plans to open 20 stores in the U.S. and Canada during calendar 2024, including five in Texas, a new state for the retailer, and six additional California stores. The retailer’s eventual goal is to reach 200 North American locations by 2027, as executives revealed in May 2023.

Uniqlo’s sister brand GU made a multi-channel entrance into the U.S. in August 2024 with the debut of its website and a 10,225-square-foot flagship store in NYC’s SoHo neighborhood.
