Ballard Designs, a multichannel home décor and furniture design company, has opened its first Houston store, marking its 17th retail store nationwide.
The newly designed 10,000-square-foot space houses fully decorated room vignettes, furniture, fabrics, lighting, drapery, hardware and accessories, and also provides complimentary design service.
In 2020, the brand’s best-selling products in the Houston area were fabrics and drapery hardware — and that was strictly online shopping, said Dominic Milanese, Senior Director of Retail for Ballard Designs in a statement. Now with a physical presence in Houston, the retailer can better connect with designers and homeowners who want to come view and compare samples of Ballard’s 400-plus fabrics in-store.
To kick off the store opening, Ballard Designs teamed up with five top Houston interior designers discussing their favorite subjects for episodes of its How to Decorate podcast, airing March 22-28. Guests include:

- Sherrell Neal on detailed approaches to traditional design;
- Illa Gaunt on choosing the perfect art;
- Meg Lonergan on worldly Southern style; and
- Jacob Medina on blending contemporary with multi-era styles.
