Key Takeaways:

  • Facebook has launched Seller, a standalone iOS app designed specifically for people who sell on Facebook Marketplace.
  • The app includes AI-powered listing creation, a unified inbox, inventory management and performance insights.
  • Seller is currently available to users in the U.S. ages 18 and older on the App Store, with Android and web versions in testing.

Facebook Marketplace turns 10 this year, and to mark the occasion, the platform is giving its most active sellers their own dedicated app. The app, called Seller, was announced by Tom Alison, Head of Facebook, on Friday and is now available on the App Store for U.S. users 18 and older.

The launch reflects just how much buying and selling on Facebook has evolved, according to a blog post shared by Facebook. What started as informal trading in Facebook Groups has grown into a significant commerce platform. According to Meta, 430 million listings are posted on Facebook Marketplace globally each month, spanning categories like home decor, fashion, electronics and vehicles. One in three young adults on Facebook in the U.S. uses Marketplace daily.

For many people, that activity has grown beyond casual decluttering. Selling on Marketplace has become a side hustle or, in some cases, a primary source of income. Seller is Meta’s attempt to give those higher-volume sellers a more purpose-built experience than what’s currently available through the main Facebook app.

What Is the Facebook Seller App?

Seller is a standalone iOS app that syncs directly with Facebook Marketplace. Existing listings, messages and selling history carry over automatically, and anything created in Seller appears on Marketplace, where buyers already browse and shop. Sellers can still use Marketplace through the main Facebook app, but Seller is designed for those who want a dedicated space to manage and grow their business.

The app consolidates several selling functions that were previously scattered across the Facebook experience.

  • AI-Powered Listing Creation Sellers can upload photos and Meta AI will automatically generate a title, description, price suggestion and category. A bulk listing feature also allows users to create multiple listings at once, which could appeal to sellers with large inventories.
  • Unified Seller Inbox All buyer messages are organized in a single inbox, threaded by item. That means sellers can see every conversation tied to a specific listing without jumping between threads.
  • Inventory Management Sellers can view, edit, relist and manage their full inventory from one place, rather than navigating individual listings across the broader Facebook interface.
  • Seller Home Dashboard The app’s home screen surfaces items that need attention, such as packages to ship, buyers waiting for responses and listings that may need repricing. It also displays a snapshot of overall sales performance.
  • Performance Insights Sellers can track views, clicks, message threads and completed sales. Meta says this data is designed to help sellers price competitively and make more informed decisions about their inventory.

Meta has indicated the app will continue to evolve based on seller feedback. Facebook Marketplace lists more than 75 million home decor items, 60 million fashion items, 45 million electronics and 44 million vehicles each month.
