Hibbett Sports has named Michael E. Longo as the athletic retailer’s President and CEO. Longo will succeed former CEO Jeff Rosenthal, who announced his retirement in March 2019, and join the company’s Board of Directors.
“It’s a very exciting time for Hibbett as we continue our mission of improving the productivity of our store base while also growing the omnichannel business to deliver a differentiated customer experience to underserved markets,” said Longo in a statement. “I look forward to working with the Company’s Board of Directors, leadership team and all Hibbett employees to further that mission.”

Longo previously served as CEO for City Gear, where he oversaw the November 2018 acquisition of the company by Hibbett Sports. At City Gear, Longo was instrumental in creating a unique brand and growing the business through acquisitions. Longo also has worked in various leadership positions with AutoZone.
