GNC has promoted Josh Burris from President to CEO of the health and wellness retailer, and has named Cam Lawrence as its new CFO. Burris joined GNC in 2019 as Chief U.S. Officer before being promoted to President. Lawrence also started in 2019, as SVP Finance and Chief Accounting Officer, and has been acting as interim CFO during the past several months. Both appointments are effective immediately.
The appointments follow GNC’s September 2020 sale to China-based Harbin Pharmaceutical Group. The retailer had entered a “pre-packaged” bankruptcy in June 2020 with Harbin as the stalking horse bidder. Earlier this month, GNC partnered with Shipt to offer same-day delivery across the U.S., and teamed up with e-Spirit to enhance its ecommerce customer experience.
“We are pleased to have great leaders at the helm of GNC at this pivotal time in its evolution,” said Yichen Zhang, Chairman of the GNC Board of Directors in a statement. “We have been working closely with Josh and Cam since Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Holding Co. Ltd. acquired GNC in 2020, and are impressed by the strides their teams have made in evolving GNC’s business over the past year. We are confident the business will continue to capitalize on significant growth opportunities under their leadership.”
