Spain will become the ninth European country with a lululemon retail presence when the retailer launches a Spanish-language website later in July and opens stores in Madrid and Barcelona in September 2022. The brand already operates nearly 40 stores and three local-language websites in France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, but Spain will be the first new European country lululemon has moved into since 2019.
The expansion is part of lululemon’s “Power of Three x2” growth plan, which includes tripling its international revenue from 2021 levels by year’s-end 2026. The Spanish stores will be located in the heart of Madrid and Barcelona’s shopping districts, at Calle Serrano and Paseo de Gracia respectively.
“As a brand which supports wellbeing, lululemon has a strong synergy with the active, balanced lifestyle enjoyed in Spain,” said André Maestrini, EVP, International at lululemon in a statement. “We’re looking forward to connecting with our Spanish guests, through our website and at our first retail stores opening in Madrid and Barcelona. The strength of our model across product innovation, guest experience, community and culture provides a unique advantage as we introduce lululemon to our newest market.”
