Key Takeaways:
- The 900-square-foot spaces offer hands-on demos of Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Quest VR headsets.
- Dedicated Meta sales specialists will assist with personalized fittings and product questions.
- The launch comes as Best Buy reported Q1 FY27 comparable sales growth of 2% and adjusted EPS of $1.28, beating expectations.
Best Buy is launching Meta Lab @ Best Buy, a dedicated in-store experience for Meta’s AI glasses and VR headsets, rolling out to more than 50 locations starting this June.
The 900-square-foot spaces will feature interactive demos, smart mirrors and personalized fittings, along with dedicated Meta Sales Specialists. Products available for hands-on exploration include Ray-Ban Meta, Meta Ray-Ban Display, Oakley Meta, and the Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S VR headsets.
The partnership leans into a consumer behavior insight: according to the companies, more than 50% of Best Buy customers say they want to see Meta’s AI glasses in person before purchasing.
The spaces are designed to close that gap with try-on walls, UV light displays showing how lenses respond to different light settings, and high-tech smart mirrors that let customers virtually browse frames and compare looks side by side.
“Meta Lab @ Best Buy is an experience customers can’t find at any other retailer and sets a new standard for how our customers will explore, play with and discover the latest cutting-edge tech,” Patrick McGinnis, Chief Merchandising Officer at Best Buy, said in a statement.
“Together we’re reimagining how consumers shop the next generation of personal technology,” Christa Wittenberg, Vice President of Global Retail Sales at Meta, said in a statement.
Best Buy’s Improved Financial Results
The launch arrives as Best Buy is reporting strengthening momentum. In its most recent quarter ended May 2, 2026, the company posted better-than-expected results with comparable sales growth of 2% and adjusted diluted EPS of $1.28,
“Our comparable sales grew 2% versus last year, higher than our outlook, with positive comps across the majority of our major product categories and strong performance in our Best Buy Ads and Marketplace initiatives,” CEO Corie Barry said in a statement. The results come as Best Buy prepares for a leadership transition, with Jason Bonfig set to take over as CEO on November 1, 2026.
As Retail TouchPoints reported in May, Best Buy is also planning to add six net new U.S. stores this year, its first domestic store count growth in more than a decade, with smaller-format stores playing a key role in that strategy.
The Meta Lab rollout reflects that same push to reinvest in the physical retail experience as a differentiator.
Initial Meta Lab @ Best Buy locations include stores in San Carlos, Calif.; Roseville, Minn.; Woodland Park, N.J.; Greenville, S.C.; and Columbus, Ohio, with additional locations rolling out through the summer.
