Mattress Warehouse has officially acquired a total of 176 stores from Tempur Sealy International — 73 former Mattress Firm stores and 103 Sleep Outfitters locations — pushing the retailer above the 500-location mark. Tempur Sealy had agreed to sell the stores to Mattress Warehouse as a condition of its $4 billion acquisition of Mattress Firm, which was originally announced in May 2023 and was finalized in February 2025.
The new stores expand Mattress Warehouse’s geographic footprint, which now reaches from New Hampshire to southern Florida and westward to Chicago and Milwaukee. Additionally, Mattress Warehouse, which was founded in 1989, has acquired seven distribution centers and corporate offices in Lexington, Ky. Financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
“This is a transformative moment in our growth story,” said Bill Papettas, President and CEO of Mattress Warehouse in a statement. “We are excited to welcome these new stores — and the talented teams behind them — into the Mattress Warehouse family. This acquisition furthers our mission to improve lives through quality sleep.”
