China-based lifestyle retailer Miniso is continuing its rapid expansion across the U.S., with plans for stores in a dozen new markets through a partnership with mall operator CBL Properties.
The first wave of store openings started in November 2023 at malls in Roanoke, Va. and Winston-Salem, N.C., followed by a January 2024 opening in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Throughout the rest of 2024, stores will open at malls in Nashville and Chattanooga, Tenn.; St. Louis; Huntsville, Ala.; Waco, Texas; Lexington, Ky., Greensburg, Pa.; Overland Park, Kan.; and Bismarck, N.D.
“We are thrilled to work with Miniso to add to their U.S. store fleet at CBL properties across the South, East Coast and Midwest,” said Stephen Lebovitz, CEO of CBL Properties in a statement. “Miniso is an innovative retailer catering to a generation of customers who over the last few years have shown a preference for shopping at malls. These stores are becoming a destination for visitors to our properties and complement the dynamic mix of retailers, restaurants and entertainment they already offer.”
These openings follow a big year for Miniso, which saw the retailer expand its presence in more than 20 states across the U.S. and add more than 1,000 net new stores globally in 2023. The company currently operates 6,413 stores around the world, nearly 2,500 of which are in global markets, including a new flagship in London. Last year the company also hosted a traveling Blind Box Carnival that featured unboxing events at key stores in China, New York City, Indonesia and the U.A.E.
