Dollar Tree has partnered with Instacart to offer same-day delivery from nearly 7,000 Dollar Tree locations as the companies expand their August 2021 pilot program nationwide. Shoppers will be able to choose from Dollar Tree’s entire selection of goods, including household products, seasonal décor, pantry essentials and school supplies.
The expanded program builds on Instacart’s existing partnership with the Family Dollar banner, which Dollar Tree owns. That same-day delivery option launched in February 2021, encompassing 6,000 stores, growing from a 2020 pilot that tested delivery from 250 locations.
The combined 13,000–store delivery footprint will be able to reach 98 million households with same-day delivery in as little as one hour. This represents a significant portion of Instacart’s total retail delivery geography, which totals more than 65,000 stores.
“With our focus on best meeting customers’ evolving needs, we are pleased to expand our Instacart partnership to provide even more households across the country with convenience and value on everyday products, as well as the party essentials and seasonal items that Dollar Tree is best known for,” said Michael Witynski, President and CEO of Dollar Tree in a statement.
Dollar Tree has been steadily expanding over the course of 2021. This year, the off-price retailer is aiming to open 400 Dollar Tree stores and 200 Family Dollar stores as well as renovate 1,250 Family Dollar stores. The retailer also is expanding its Combination Store format, which includes features from both banners, to succeed in small towns and rural communities where the traditional Dollar Tree format couldn’t operate alone.
