Alcohol ecommerce solution Drinks has launched the “Drinks-as-a-service” (DaaS) platform, a subscription software solution that will allow any brand, merchant or ecommerce operator to navigate the various tax and compliance impediments to selling alcohol online.
The DaaS platform can be used by retailers that want to add wine or spirits to their assortment to alcohol producers looking to build out their direct-to-consumer business. The platform encompasses four key functionalities:
- Drinks Anywhere, which enables alcohol ecommerce for any business;
- Drinks Assure, embedded “reg-tech” that ensures real-time tax and regulation compliance for alcohol producers and retailers;
- Drinks Amplify, which helps sellers enhance their execution with a range of professional services; and
- Drinks AI, which leverages the company’s patented PAIR (Predictive AI Retailing) suite of AI for Alcohol services to help determine optimal product offerings.
“Our DaaS solution demolishes the barriers to entry for alcohol ecommerce,” said Zac Brandenberg, Co-founder and CEO of Drinks in a statement. “We’ve created the only complete platform for alcohol sales, connecting the existing alcohol ecosystem with the much larger universe of brands, influencers and creators whose customers, audiences and fans want to seamlessly buy adult beverages. This enterprise-grade offering includes compliance and safety features along with AI-driven insights, making the future of alcohol retail accessible to businesses of all sizes.”
The formal launch of DaaS also marks a turning point for Drinks, which sold off the Wine Insiders brand in October 2023 in order to focus more fully on its alcohol ecommerce technology offerings.
