J.Crew Group has named former Dyson executive Kathleen Van Nest Pierce President of the J.Crew brand, effective Aug. 4.

It’s a newly created role at J.Crew. Reporting to J.Crew Group CEO Libby Wadle, Pierce will lead J.Crew’s merchandising, design, marketing and retail teams, according to a news release.

Pierce was previously Dyson’s Global President for Beauty, serving in the role for four years. In that time, she tripled Dyson’s technology portfolio and established the company’s position in the beauty device market. She brought 27 products to market in two years, said the release.

Before joining Dyson, Pierce held senior roles at The Estée Lauder Companies over a 20-year period.

“Kathleen is a one-of-a-kind consumer brand leader with a proven ability to deliver outstanding results, build resonant brands and forge meaningful connections with consumers, and we are thrilled to welcome her to J.Crew,” Wadle said in a statement. “Kathleen’s rare combination of brand vision, operational excellence and track record of driving global growth is exactly what this moment calls for.”

“J.Crew is one of those rare brands that holds a genuine place in people’s lives — it’s beloved, it’s relevant, and it has extraordinary growth opportunities,” Pierce said in a statement.

In addition to the J.Crew brand, which has 114 stores, J.Crew Group also operates Madewell, which has 160 stores, and 395 J.Crew Factory stores.
