Mattress Firm will contribute financial support, sleep products and dedicated volunteer time to the National Women’s Shelter Network (NWSN), beginning today with the new Elizabeth Gregory Home in Seattle. The NWSN’s network of 400 shelters and safe haven programs provides more than 9 million free shelter bed nights and 24 million meals annually.
“Each year, 1.2 million women and 2.5 million children experience homelessness in our country, and the lead cause is gender-based violence and trauma,” said Constance Collins, Executive Director at NWSN in a statement. “We know that safe shelter and supportive services save and change lives, and this is made possible with the help of people everywhere and commitments from partners such as Mattress Firm.”
The initial local activation in Seattle involved 30 Mattress Firm volunteers helping to furnish and prep the new transitional shelter, including deep cleaning, furnishing private bedrooms and setting up common areas. Volunteer opportunities also include assembling welcome sleep bags for women and baby backpacks for expecting mothers, food prep at local shelters and donation drives. Additionally, Mattress Firm is inviting customers to support the NWSN with easy donation opportunities at the 2,200+ Mattress Firm stores across the country.
“At Mattress Firm, giving back is a core value, and we’re proud to support women and children in need through this partnership,” said Beth Garcia, VP of Communications at Mattress Firm in a statement. “The National Women’s Shelter Network makes a profound impact in communities across the country, and we are honored to stand beside them in their critical work to provide safety, support and hope.”
Tempur Sealy completed its $5 billion acquisition of Mattress Firm in February 2025, changing the retailer’s parent company name to Somnigroup International.
