Japan-based Daiso is ringing in the new year with a total of 11 store openings five states. The retailer, which offers a range of affordably-priced items including home essentials, beauty products, kitchenware and Japanese snacks, began with the debut of its Medford, Ore. store last month and will follow with seven new California locations as well as one store each in New Mexico, Texas and Washington state.
Four of the California stores — in Santa Maria, Foster City, Apple Valley and Riverside — will open on Jan. 4, 2025, with three more stores, in Calexico, Corona and Lemon Grove, slated to open on Jan. 11. Daiso also will open stores in Olympia, Wash., Katy, Texas and Santa Fe, N.M. — its first in that state — on Jan. 11.
“California shoppers have embraced Daiso’s concept, and we’re excited to make our products more accessible with these new locations,” said John Clarke, Chief Development Officer for Daiso USA in a statement. “We currently operate 167 stores across eight states, and these openings will allow us to serve our loyal customers while reaching new communities.”
At the stores opening on Jan. 11, the first 100 customers who make a minimum purchase of $30 on Jan. 11 and 12 will receive a Daiso goodie bag as a thank you to both new and loyal customers.
