Advance Auto Parts has launched the three-tier Advance Rewards loyalty program, designed to deliver greater value to both its heavy and light DIY customers. The free-to-join program’s tiers of 1st Gear, 2nd Gear and Top Gear reward more frequent shoppers with higher rewards rates and greater coupon flexibility, including the ability to combine coupons for up to $100 in savings. The new Advance Rewards replaces the retailer’s Speed Perks program.
“Advance Rewards delivers the value that our customers are asking for in a loyalty program,” said Bruce Starnes, EVP and Chief Merchant at Advance Auto Parts in a statement. “At the same time, it gives us more tools to engage with them, in part through personalized experiences.”
The program’s new features also include exclusive vendor partnerships offering members-only deals, bonus points promotions on popular products and sweepstakes opportunities.
The program’s reward tiers include:
- 1st Gear: Members earn five points per dollar spent and can stack up to $100 in coupons;
- 2nd Gear: Members spending $500 in a calendar year earn eight points per dollar spent and can stack up to $100 in coupons; and
- Top Gear: Members spending $1,000 in a calendar year earn 10 points per dollar spent and can stack up to $100 in coupons.
After announcing in November 2024 that it would be closing more than 500 corporate stores and exiting more than 100 independent locations following a tough quarter, the retailer moved back into expansion mode: in March 2025 Advance Auto Parts said it would open 30 new stores in 2025 and add at least 100 new locations through 2027.
