Moda Operandi, a luxury online retailer, has raised $165 million in capital to fuel international growth and increase development across key business verticals. The round was led by Adrian Cheng — through his investment vehicles C Venture and K11 Investment — and Apax Digital.
Founded in 2011, Moda Operandi’s unique “Trunk Show” model revolves around making fashion available to consumers right off the runway. Consumers can shop complete looks as worn by the models and preorder items in real time, ensuring they receive the high-fashion pieces as soon as they are available. The retailer also operates an e-Commerce shop for clothing and accessories.
Since its last round of funding in 2014, the retailer’s business has increased by more than 3.5X. Moda Operandi’s international markets represent more than one-third of total demand, led by Asia and the Middle East — two prime focus areas for the expansion of its showroom concept and stylist program.

The latest round of funding also will accelerate improvements in mobile technology, customization and personalization, as well as support strategies across marketing and customer acquisition. The company also plans to expand its brand portfolio and new brand relationships.
