PayPal To Pay For U.S. Shoppers’ Holiday Returns

Online payment service PayPal has rolled out PayPal Return Shipping on Us in the U.S. The program provides reimbursements for up to four returns of purchases consumers make and pay for using PayPal between now and Jan. 31, 2016.

The returns guarantee, which may steer more e-Commerce payment business toward PayPal, is already available in 40 other countries, including Australia, France, Italy and Spain.

“PayPal champions shoppers and sellers,” said Joanna Lambert, VP of Consumer Product and Engineering at PayPal in a blog post. “We know that pricey return shipping fees discourage more than half of online shoppers from making repeat purchases, and 48% of American shoppers say free return shipping is a must before they’ll buy.”

Shoppers will need to activate the Return Shipping on Us feature at PayPal, then submit an online request for a refund on return shipping costs within 14 days of returning the item. Merchants accepting PayPal do not need to do anything for their customers to be eligible.
