The Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will open its latest Girl Scout DreamLab in a Walmart Supercenter in Albany, Ga., marking the first time that the experiential concept will be integrated within a retail environment.
Six other DreamLabs are already open nationwide, with plans for further expansion. The concept was developed by Girls Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), in collaboration with Newmark Group, as part of GSUSA’s broader strategy to modernize its physical footprint. Designed to inspire girls to make their dreams a reality, Girl Scout DreamLabs offer hands-on activities that promote STEM skills, entrepreneurship, life skills and outdoor adventures.
The newest Girl Scout DreamLab in Albany will be located at the front of the Walmart store and will feature a hands-on STEM center, podcast booth, Girl Scout boutique and meeting spaces for troops and groups. It also will double as workspace for Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia staff. The location will officially open on Oct. 3, 2024, with a ribbon cutting ceremony, facility tour and interactive demonstrations.
“As an organization, we are evolving to meet the needs of today’s girls and offering enriching opportunities for them to try new things, explore their interests, develop as leaders and make a positive impact on their communities,” said Sue Else, CEO of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia in a statement. “This facility will allow us to reach more girls than ever before and eliminate barriers that might prevent access to the resources and life-changing programming that Girl Scouts provides.”
