7-ElevenWhat’s more convenient than going to a convenience store? How about Slurpees and Slim Jims delivered right to your dorm room?

7-Eleven has partnered with mobile commerce app Tapingo to launch on-demand deliveries to participating colleges in California, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland. College students themselves will serve as Tapingo Couriers, with items supplied by select neighboring 7-Eleven stores.

Customers using the Club Tapingo feature, which provides exclusive promotions and VIP treatment, pay a $2.99 delivery charge but no additional service fees.

“Tapingo users are largely college students who are digital natives,” said 7-Eleven Vice President for Innovation and Ventures Raja Doddala in a statement. “They are redefining convenience and accustomed to ordering what they want with a few taps on a computer or smartphone. Tapingo’s technology helps us build a relationship with this demographic.”

Tapingo has established connections with more than 100 colleges, which use its services to enhance student life by broadening the reach of campus dining services.
