Lululemon Athletica has appointed Calvin McDonald as its new CEO, effective Aug. 20, 2018. McDonald succeeds Laurent Potdevin, who resigned in February 2018 following allegations of improper conduct violations. McDonald also will become a member of the Board.
During McDonald’s five years as President and CEO of Americas for Sephora, the retailer delivered double-digit growth, expanded its product offerings, created new digital platforms and store experiences and expanded its global footprint by opening stores in Brazil and Mexico.
“Calvin McDonald has an impressive track record leading organizations through periods of significant growth and innovation,” said Glenn Murphy, chairman of the Board of Directors in a statement. “He is the ideal match for the lululemon brand and culture given his strong consumer mindset, performance-driven approach, and success developing people.”
Prior to joining Sephora, McDonald served as President and CEO of Sears Canada. Before that, he spent more than 17 years at Loblaw, Canada’s largest retailer, where he led a business unit with approximately 40,000 employees and expanded the President’s Choice private label brand.
