eBay will welcome Meta’s former Head of Commerce for the Facebook App, Eddie Garcia, who will join the ecommerce giant as the company’s Chief Product Officer, effective April 18. Garcia will report to eBay CEO Jamie Iannone and will manage the marketplace’s Core Product organization and cultivate tech-led reimagination to improve the user experience.

“We are thrilled to have Eddie join our team, bringing an impressive track record of developing innovative experiences to eBay,” said  Iannone in a statement. “His passion for building successful product teams dedicated to customers fits perfectly with our growth strategy. As we continue to build an eBay for the future, having a leadership team that embodies our purpose is critical, and I know that Eddie will play a key role in the ongoing success of our entire marketplace.”

This move represents a return to eBay for Garcia, who spent 11 years within the company’s search and buyer experience beginning in 2003. Garcia worked with Meta from June 2021 to March 2022 as the company continued to cultivate the metaverse. Garcia also worked at Sam’s Club for more than six years, eventually becoming its SVP and CPO, and served as SVP of Product Development at Travelzoo.

Also moving on from Meta, the company’s former VP of Commerce Partnerships Annelies Jansen has joined creator commerce platform Spring as President and COO. At Spring, Jansen will cultivate partnerships strategy to drive growth by developing enhanced tools for creators, distribution and the company’s global fulfillment network. Jansen will report to Spring CEO Chris Lamontagne.

“Spring’s goal has always been to put the power in the hands of the creator, and with Annelies working by my side, we can continue to ensure this objective is being met,” said Lamontagne in a statement. “Her drive to ensure the right tools are within the creator’s reach in secure and safe ways matches Spring’s own vision.”

Jansen’s career includes 25 years in digital and social media. Before joining Meta in November 2017, prior to its rebrand from Facebook, Jansen served on the boards of Culture Whisper, TMG and Trader Media East. Her experience also has included director roles with Telegraph Media group and News International.
