Atty McGrath will become CEO of Aldi U.S. in September

Aldi U.S. has named current COO Atty McGrath as CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2025. McGrath, who has spent her entire 20-year career with Aldi, will replace current CEO Jason Hart, who will become the Group COO of Aldi South, overseeing the company’s global operations in Salzburg, Austria.

During his decade of leading Aldi U.S., Hart has overseen a rapid expansion of the discount grocer’s footprint, which rose from 1,300 stores in 32 states to 2,500 stores in 39 states. Aldi is continuing its expansion: in February 2025 the retailer announced plans to open more than 225 stores this year — the largest number of openings in a single calendar year in the retailer’s history — as part of its five-year national growth strategy.

“I am honored to take on this new role with Aldi supporting our global business,” said Hart in a statement. “The growth and positive development of the Aldi brand we’ve achieved together in the U.S. is a tribute to our incredible teams across the business.”

McGrath extended “heartfelt thanks to Jason for his unwavering dedication and remarkable leadership” in a statement, adding that she was “excited to build upon our momentum, expand our footprint and continue adapting to serve our customers.”
