Following the debut of a line of adaptive women’s underwear in 2024, Primark has expanded its offerings of clothing for disabled people into womenswear, menswear, underwear and nightwear. The retailer worked with designer Victoria Jenkins, founder of the Unhidden brand and a leading advocate for disability inclusion, to create 49 options that include features such as magnetic zips, pockets with tube access, belts attached at the side seam and extra-large pockets for devices.
New additions for 2025 include styles for seated people, such as those who use wheelchairs, with considerations made for product length, hems and fastenings. Wardrobe staples such as jeans, knitted sweaters, a plain T-shirt and wrap dress are among the seated options.
Primark’s beige adaptive trench coat comes in both universal and seated designs, with both featuring accessible openings such as full-length zips with a ring puller, poppers rather than buttons and magnets on the pockets to keep the wearer’s belongings secure. The seated style includes poppers on both side seams so that the fit can be adjusted as required.
“Primark recognizing the needs of the disabled and chronically sick community, and acting upon it in such a meaningful way, is going to be life changing for millions of people,” said Jenkins, a TEDx speaker, author and host of Channel 4’s The Unique Boutique. “I am excited to work with Primark to bring this to life.”
